Call of Duty Vanguard beta crossplay: how to play free beta

Call of Duty: Vanguard started its latest round of testing last week with the PlayStation Early Access Beta, and this weekend we’ll get access to the entire open beta on all platforms, with Activision adding some new content to explore.

Sledgehammer Games is working on the next edition, which will take fans to the wild and chaotic battlefields of World War II. So far, every demo has been exclusive to PlayStation, but Activision is now inviting the Xbox and PC communities to join the fun.

And, thanks to the addition of cross-platform multiplayer, friends and users from all systems will be able to connect.

Does the Call of Duty Vanguard beta have crossplay?

Crossplay and cross-platform multiplayer are available on Call of Duty Vanguard.

Activision has confirmed that the open beta for PlayStation and early access for Xbox and PC will include cross-platform multiplayer gaming. This means you’ll be able to team up with and fight against anyone, regardless of whether you’re playing on a PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X, or PC. The game is also cross-generational, which means you can play it on PS4 and PS5, Xbox One, and Series X if you disable crossplay. Although the entire experience won’t be available until November, weekend trials will allow you to try out many of the game’s modes.

How to play crossplay with friends in the Call of Duty Vanguard beta?

There hasn’t been any clear information on how this is done yet, but recent Call of Duty games have done it through a particular COD account that players set up when they start playing (or may have already set up through previous games in the franchise). These accounts can then be searched for in the main screen, and gamers will appear regardless of console or platform, rather than going through a PlayStation or Xbox-exclusive process (though you can often do that as well). There’s no reason to believe the process will be any different for Vanguard at this time.

Multiplayer modes

The following modes will be available during the final demo weekend:

  • Champion Hill
  • Team Deathmatch
  • Domination
  • Kill Confirmed
  • Patrol

Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Kill Confirmed are all conventional, while Champion Hill and Patrol are new additions. Champion Hill can be played single or in groups of two or three, whilst Patrol is a Hardpoint-inspired objective-based mode.

Is the call of duty vanguard beta free?

The Call of Duty Vanguard open beta is available for free download and play. It is already available to download on PlayStation; however, it will not be available on Xbox or PC until September 18th. For Microsoft and PC users, early access is only available till Saturday, and it’s not free to play because you have to pre-order the game.

Although you must pay to join, the good news is that you may purchase any copy of the latest Call of Duty edition. You do not need to buy one of the more expensive editions, but you should be aware of the bonuses and special features before buying.
