SpaceX’s Starlink internet service is now available in numerous places around the globe, including a few cities in India.
Starlink has said that it will avail the services across several places in the country by 2022.
The few areas in India where pre-booking is available –
- India Colony Road, Bapunagar, Ahmedabad, Gujarat;
- Indian Coffee House Road, Indore GPO, Indore, Madhya Pradesh
Pre-booking has started for a refundable amount of $99.
The availability for the services are limited and orders will be fulfilled on First Come, First Served basis, as mentioned in Starlink’s website.
Starlink states that its services are ideally suited for areas around the world where connectivity has been a challenge.
Last month Elon Musk said that the company’s satellite-based internet service which aims to provide cheaper internet access for millions in remote areas across the world, will double to 300 Mbps this year.
The company is currently promising speeds between 50 and 150 Mbps for the Starlink project, which plans to deliver high-speed internet through a network of around 12,000 satellites. It has already sent more than 1,000 of its Starlink satellites in the orbit.
Last November, SpaceX had urged the Government of India to aid approvals for satellite technology use to further internet access in remote areas of the country.
