Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the French French Establishment and the Rilliarde Sang pour la vie association are organizing a blood drive on Wednesday 3 February. “When it comes to blood reserves, we are now only at the level in the region. We can only encourage donors to be responsive. But this period of pandemic is very difficult to deal with, and we notice a decrease in the number of attendees at gatherings. We must be vigilant, explains Anna Josephsson, EFS Ain / Rhône communications manager.
In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, 1400 donations are needed to satisfy health care institutions. These figures encourage Florence Rattier, president and volunteers of the Sang pour la Vie Association, to send a message. “You should know that there is no product that can replace blood. It is because blood products have a limited shelf life, and the needs are permanent, that the donors’ action is so valuable. We also need a strong mobilization, Florence Rattier explains. Because blood donation is more important than ever, there are some helpful tips if you need to go to a collection point.
Make an appointment on the platform of the French Blood Establishment. Do not come on an empty stomach, and bring an identity document. Weigh at least 50 kg, and have good health. It is also important that you give yourself a derogatory certificate and check section 2, which stipulates a trip for medical consultation, etc.
