Tornado Warnings Lifted, Thunderstorm Watches Still in Effect in Saskatchewan

Tornado warnings have been lifted in Southern Saskatchewan, including:

  • The RM of Souris Valley, including Tribune and Oungre;
  • The RM of Laurier, including Radville; and
  • The RM of Lake Alma, including Lake Alma and Beaubier.

Environment Canada has issued a serious thunderstorm watch for parts of southern Saskatchewan, including the Regina, Weyburn, Carlyle, Estevan, and Moose Jaw areas.

As per the advisory, issued at 2:14 PM, Sunday, situations are favorable for the advancement of serious thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening over parts of Southern Saskatchewan. The major threats from these thunderstorms would be hail to the size of loonies and wind gusts to 100 km/h.

“Thunderstorms are expected to form today in a hot and humid airmass. Severe weather is possible with any thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will move out of the region this evening,” the advisory states.

A heat warning has also been issued earlier this week.
