UFC Que Choisir condemns the price increase

The UFC Que Choisir Consumer Association condemns in a survey the increase in prices for supplementary health insurance.

Following a conversation about certificates, the UFC-Que Choisir was able to study 623 individual contracts, from 123 different complementary organizations.

Their analysis shows a median health insurance inflation of 4.3% in 2021, or three times more than the expectation of the purchasing power of the French this year.

“Among the 17 organizations for which we received the most contracts, the median inflation varies between 0% and … 8.5%,” emphasizes UFC Que Choisir.

This new increase in contributions is part of a connection with massive increases in contributions in recent years (4% and 5% in 2019 and 2020, respectively).

“This increase weighs heavily, in times of crisis, on the household budget, as it corresponds to a median annual additional cost of 79 euros, which even exceeds 200 euros for almost every fifth insured,” the association regrets.

“In this context, the termination at any time, possibly since 1 December 2020, shows all its interest. However, several obstacles now hinder the success of the reform, and in particular the difficulty of comparing the offers,” also emphasizes’ UFC-Que Choisir.
